Definition: Delayed registration

Category: Social statistics

The registration of a vital event after the prescribed period denoted in existing laws, rules or regulations (including any grace period, if one is specified). A late registration is the registration of a vital event after the prescribed time period but within a specified grace period. Since the grace period is usually considered to be one year following the vital event, delayed registration is usually considered the registration of a vital event one year or more after the vital event has occurred. http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/ramon/statmanuals/files/SeriesF_84_EN.pdf
