Created in 1979, within an enlarged Europe, the Convention on Long-Range, Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTAP) measures and prevents acidification and eutrophication. It includes the EMEP programme (Co-operative Programme for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Long-range Transmission of Air pollutants in Europe), whose main objective is to regularly provide Governments and subsidiary bodies under the LRTAP Convention with qualified scientific information to support the development and further evaluation of the international protocols on emission reductions negotiated within the Convention. http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/ramon/coded_files/KS-NQ-06-008-EN.pdf CLRTAP Web pageEMEP Web page
