Definition: Degree of self-sufficiency
Category: Agriculture statistics
The degree of self-sufficiency of a given region indicates up to which extent "domestic production" (from a domestic raw material) of this region is in a position to cover all the needs or "domestic use" (total use for humans, animals and industry) of this region. With regard to the balance sheets, the degree of self-sufficiency is calculated by Eurostat as "Domestic production" x 100 --------------------------------- "Domestic use" http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/ramon/coded_files/KS-NN-06-006-EN.pdf
