Definition: Common Agricultural Policy Simulation Model

Category: General concept

The Common Agricultural Policy Simulation Model (CAPSIM) is a partial equilibrium model with behavioural functions for the supply of agricultural products, input demand, consumer demand, and processing of agricultural products. It is the most recent modelling tool developed on behalf of Eurostat for the analysis of the Common Agricultural Policy and covers the whole of agriculture of EU Member States in the definitions of the Economic Accounts for Agriculture. This working document presents a detailed description of the model structure and the implementation of the model. The document highlights the methodological and technical approaches chosen for CAPSIM and explains the model’s functionality. It also aims at providing information necessary for the interpretation and evaluation of model results to readers and users of model results. http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/ramon/statmanuals/files/CAPSIM_EN.pdf
