Definition: Main industrial groupings

Category: Short-term statistics

The objective of the main industrial groupings (MIGs) is to provide an activity breakdown of industry which is an intermediate level between the Sections and the Subsections of NACE.

There are five MIGs:

- intermediate goods;
- capital goods;
- consumer durables;
- consumer non-durables;
- energy.

The definitions for each of the MIGs headings are based on the 3-digit level of NACE. It should be noted that the MIGs are not comparable in size, in particular the consumer durables heading is smaller than the others. http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/product?code=KS-DL-04-002&mode=view Main industrial groupings 2009Main industrial groupings 2001
