Definition: Statistical threshold

Category: External trade

In order to limit the burden on businesses of providing information on trade, while at the same time maintaining an acceptable quality of data, a system of thresholds is operated for both intra-EU trade and extra-EU trade below which no information, or reduced information, is collected.
The system of thresholds on which Intrastat is based makes it possible to exempt two?thirds of European operators (especially small and medium-sized enterprises) from statistical formalities.
