Definition: Semi-trailer

A non-powered vehicle for the carriage of goods, intended to be coupled to a motor
vehicle in such a way that a substantial part of its weight and of its load is borne by the motor
vehicle. Semi-trailers may have to be specially adapted for use in combined transport.
