Definition: Regional intramural expenditures

Regional intramural expenditures are all expenditures for R&D performed within a statistical unit or a sector in a region, whatever the source of funds. They can be broken down by institutional sector, expressed as a percentage of (regional) GDP and related to the number of inhabitants or the labour force.
