Definition: Payments by results, bonuses, etc.

Category: Labour market

This related to bonuses paid in each pay period and included in total earnings (but not included in overtime earnings). All payments made in the pay period which were included in gross earnings were included here, such as piecework, similar payment-by-results systems, bonuses including profit-sharing and commission, and other incentive payments. Payments relating to overtime hours were not included (being treated as overtime earnings). If these payments were made in each pay-period, this figure represented the amount paid in the pay period; if they were made less frequently, it represented the appropriate proportion for one pay period.
