Definition: Other depository corporations

The other depository corporations sub-sector consists of all resident financial corporations and quasi-corporations, except the central bank, whose principal activity is financial intermediation and which have liabilities in the form of deposits or financial instruments such as short-term certificates of deposit which are close substitutes for deposits in mobilising financial resources and which are included in measures of money broadly defined. http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/ramon/statmanuals/files/SNA_1993_EN.pdf
