Definition: Monthly earnings

Monthly earnings were calculated using Basis 2. In monthly earnings periodic bonuses play a very important part in some member countries, and are known in advance by both employer and employee. For the purpose of analysing monthly earnings, they were calculated on the same basis as monthly earnings (Basis 2), and divided by the number of months work to which they relate. These bonuses were not included in the monthly earnings but are distinguished separately.
