The aim of history museums is to present the historical evolution of a region, a country, or a province, over a limited period or over the centuries. Museums of archaeology are distinguished mainly by the fact that they owe all or a part of their collections to excavations.  The group includes museums with collections of historical objects or remains, commemorative museums, archives museums, military museums, museums on historical figures, archaeological museums, antiques museums, etc.
