Definition: Data enclave

Category: General concept

Facility within the premises of the statistical organization to which researchers can come in order to perform their research on detailed files. These files are the most detailed files available to the researchers, other than the actual master file. Users will be expected to identify the part of the data set they are interested in and only that data subset will be made available to them. The results produced by the researcher must be vetted by a statistical organization staff member before they can be removed from the premises. Researchers must have specific goals prior to being allowed to perform the research in the data enclave. http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/ramon/statmanuals/files/world_census_agri_2020_EN.pdf
