Definition: Total net production (Code 17_107100)

Category: Energy

This aggregate covers net electricity or heat generation in all types of power plants (including pumped storage). Net production is defined as the total gross production (Code 17_107000) less the electrical energy or heat absorbed by the generating auxiliaries and the losses in the main generator transformers.

Power plant producers are classified either as "Main activity producers" (plants operated by private or public owners which are producing the electricity or heat for sale to third parties as their main business) or as "Autoproducers" (plants operated by private or public owners which are not producing the electricity or heat as their main business, but wholly or partly for their own consumption).

Power plants can be classified as electricity or heat only plants (designed to produce only electricity or heat) or CHP plants (designed to produce both heat and electricity). http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/ALL/?uri=CELEX:32008R1099
