Definition: Centre of competence
Category: General concept; Peer reviews
Body foreseen to have an active and dynamic role in ensuring sustainability of the results of development activities. Just like ESSnets, centres of competence involve several ESS (European Statistical System) organisations, and cover tasks with a high European added value and respond to needs of Member States. They are based on existing standards (e.g. results of ESSnet), and their activities include maintenance work, implementation, training and sharing of best practices. The centre of competence concept is currently under development.
