Definition: Peer review

Category: Quality, Evaluation, Assessments; Peer reviews

A special kind of external audit, carried out by an organisation for another organisation of a similar status (i.e. by a peer organisation), for instance a National Statistical Institute (NSI) is reviewed by another NSI. In general, it is less formal than an audit. It aims rather at assessing the general quality than at controlling the conformity with an external quality standard. https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/quality/peer-reviews
