Definition: Final stocks

Category: National accounts

These are stocks of finished products or work-in-progress on the holdings of the industry (i.e. held by producers) at the end of the reference year. Stocks at different marketing stages (especially reserves held by dealers and processing firms) as well as intervention stocks should not be listed here.
Products which are only temporarily stocked and are consumed in a later period within the industry (e.g. cereals for feed, seed and planting stock, etc.) should also be entered here since the final use of the product is not known at the time of their entry in stocks. http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/ramon/statmanuals/files/KS-27-00-782-__-I-EN.pdf
