Definition: Emissions intensity
Category: Environment
Emissions intensity is generally measured as the level of greenhouse gas emissions per unit of GDP (economic output). There is particular interest in this relationship from a sustainable development perspective, in order to analyse whether greenhouse gas emissions can be decoupled from economic growth, in other words, to ascertain in what way environmental pressures are linked to economic growth. http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/product?code=KS-31-09-272&mode=view
