Definition: Steelweight
Category: PRODCOM
The weight of steel contained within a ship’s structure is often used by shipbuilders as a basis for performance metrics. The unit "manhours per tonne", referring to a tonne of steel, is often used in production planning to measure work content. This measure is used only at the detailed operational level within shipyards. http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/ramon/coded_files/CGT_first_marine_int_ltd.pdf
