Definition: Emigrant

Person travelling abroad with the intention of residing there for a certain minimum period, for example 12 months in the case of Dutch emigrants leaving the Netherlands. Germans become emigrants when they leave their occupied residence. A Briton becomes an emigrant when intending to live abroad for more than 12 months, having being resident in the UK for the previous 12 months.
